Surviving the Blizzard of 2014.

Well, looks like we survived the Blizzard of 2014. PRAISE THE LORD! I am so happy to see the snow melt & go away! We definitely have to go grocery shopping. I have definitely emptied our pantry & fridge. Whoopsies. Anyways, we are still just trucking along. Still loving being pregnant! Here's the update…

How far along:  24 weeks, 3 days
Maternity clothes: Still about the same as before--maternity shirts, some pants.
Total weight gain:  About 8 pounds.
Stretch marks:  Fingers crossed, still no stretch marks!
Sleep:  What's that??? Ok, I may be a little dramatic on that..but for real, I haven't been sleeping a lot. It stinks.
Best moment this week: Realizing how blessed I am. We had the Blizzard of 2014, and as much as I hated being in house for three days straight & not being able to get out--I remembered there were so many people stranded in their cars, school, work, etc. And I was at least home with my husband and dogs. Definitely could have been worse. I am very lucky!
Miss anything: Red Bull. I would love one!
Movement: Sweet baby Ty is so active & healthy! Makes for a happy Mommy & Daddy. He is going crazy as we speak. His kicks have gotten stronger too! **See video at bottom**
Food cravings: None.
Anything make you sick or queasy:  Nope
Labor signs: Nope
Belly Button in or out:  Flat.
Wedding rings on or off:  On, but I have been taking my ring off at night. I've been getting hot in the middle of night, so my fingers swell.
Happy or Moody most of the time:  Well, a little grumpy over the weather! I am so READY FOR SOME BEACH WEATHER!!!!!!
Looking forward to:  My routine. I miss it so!!!!

Pregnancy--the good, the bad, & the ugly.

I will do my weekly "bumpdate" on Saturday, but I thought it would be fun to do the good, the bad, & the ugly of pregnancy..so far!

We will start with the UGLY.

1) Having absolutely NO appetite during the 1st Trimester was AWFUL. I had people trying to shove food down my throat because you're pregnant & you're eating for two now BUT I COULD NOT EAT. That was brutal.
2) The lack of sleep lately--I LOVE my sleep & I know sleep as it know will be no more, but come on now…can't I adjust closer to Ty's delivery?? PAHLEASEEEEEE!
3) The vomiting at the beginning was also super lame. Seriously? I would brush my teeth and then BLAHHHHHH. And then I would have to brush my teeth A G A I N and pray the entire time I wouldn't throw up again. LUCKILY I did not throw up near as much as some women do in their pregnancy.
4) The flu already is no fun. Imagine the flu AND being pregnant. It was EXHAUSTING. And of course everyone says did you not get the flu shot?? YES, I got the flu shot--but it doesn't protect you from every strand of the flu…DUH! Regardless, FLU + PREGNANCY= MISERABLE. No matter the amount of Netflix movies, Real Housewives episodes, and Food Network you watch, it is no fun.
5) This one is the ugliest. And has been consistent my entire pregnancy. My breast. GOOD GOLLIE. (Sorry if any men read this, but it is a factor) I mean I never knew they could hurt so bad. And when I say hurt, I mean you could have cut one of them off and they'd still feel the same. And no, that is NOT a challenge to anyone--I am totally being dramatic, but they really do hurt. It has been the WORST part of pregnancy so far.

On to the bad…these are not great, but not the end of the world either.

1) The food/drinks you are not supposed to have during pregnancy. I miss raw sushi. I also miss the occasionally glass of wine especially on those rough, full moon schools days…I know my teacher friends can't relate. Luckily with the soda I was able to adjust to the caffeine free coke, so I did not struggle too terribly with lowering my coke intake. I do miss the Red Bull though. Even though I miss these things, IT IS WORTH IT!
2) The food aversions. I have not been able to eat two of my favorite things since I have been pregnant--and it makes me sad. Mac & Cheese and a salad. Just something I haven't been able to eat without keeping it down. Sad day.
3) The "pregnancy police" that watch your EVERY move and COMMENT on your EVERY move. I cannot believe you are having a Pepsi  or You are not eating enough or Don't lift that cereal box--it is too heavy (okay that one I made up, but you get the point)
4. If I know you well enough that you would not care that I randomly touch your belly, then you can randomly touch mine. BUT--if we are not very close and I don't even know your phone number, PLEASE don't just start rubbing my belly. It makes me feel uncomfortable. I know I am SoOoO cute, but please, at least ask!
5) Everyone's views on how I should look at each week. This one annoyed me the most. Are you SURE your pregnant? Nope. Made it ALL up. OH MY GOSH, you just BLEW up over night! Oh, why thank you--and here I was thinking I looked great. I understand I may not look how you looked at each week, but I don't need it to be addressed. E V E R Y  S I N G L E  D A Y !

***Please do not think I am being rude by #4 & #5--I know people mean well, I am just sharing my thoughts***

Now for GOOD!

1) In general I LOVEEEE being pregnant. It has been amazing so far.
2) Being able to eat one two three popsicles in one setting.
3) The baby kicks..OH. MY. GOSH. I love them. I could lay in bed ALL night and feel them.
4) The bond I already feel with Ty. I cannot wait til the day I get to hold him in my arms
5) The glow and happiness I feel.
6) The AMAZING bond and how much more closer it has brought Tyler & me. I am SO lucky and blessed to have an amazing man by my side.
7) The fact that in four months I will be a mommy and Tyler will be a daddy. We are both nervous, but know God will guide us.

There are so many more GOOD, but these are the top.

I hope you enjoyed my good, bad, & ugly of my pregnancy so far. Let me know what you think!

xoxo,
Heather

Ohhhh, we're (over) half way there...

NESTING…It. has. started. I am officially a  "nester". All I want to do is clean the house, wash Ty's clothes (already done twice for some reason), color coordinate my closet, color coordinate Ty's closet, ETC. I heard about nesting when I first got pregnant and I thought--oh that won't be me. BOY. WAS. I. WRONG. It the past week I have vacuumed the house THREE TIMES. You're talking to the girl who usually vacuums ONCE a week. I have cleaned the bathrooms twice, cleaned the kitchen twice. I know Tyler is loving it, too! :) Today, I have washed all of Ty's clothes (again) and organized them by size and put them in his dresser. Now I just need to get some baby hangers so I can hang his nicer clothes. And, yes, they will also by size--but also color. This is not SO weird, because I have always had my closet color coordinated! ANYWHO---that is what is going on in my world. I have a little over 4 months to go--and I am SOOOOOO ready to meet Ty!!!! I obviously want him to come when it is the right time, but doesn't mean I can't be excited! :)

How far along:  22 Weeks, 6 Days
Maternity clothes: I can still pretty much wear my regular clothes, just have to put a rubber band on my pants. BUT--I can wear maternity clothes, too. So, I just wear whatever I feel like wearing & whatever is comfortable.
Total weight gain:  I have an appointment on Thursday--so I will know then. I don't have a scale--so I don't check it everyday. I'd guess a few pounds. My last appointment was December 27th, and I hadn't gained any weight yet. But it has been almost a month since then.
Stretch marks:  So far, so good! Still using coca butter!
Sleep:  Still the same, getting up to use the restroom about twice a night. Lately I have been having the WEIRDEST dreams & some of them wake me up. That would be a fun blogpost in itself--my crazy dreams.
Best moment this week: Getting all of Ty's clothes washed and put up! :)
Miss anything: Nothing really this week. I had some cooked sushi last weekend and that handled the craving! And my work week wasn't near as crazy as last, so I haven't wanted a glass of wine this week.
Movement: My little mover, I feel him ALL THE TIME. I love it.
Food cravings:  I haven't had any cravings this week. I know Tyler is thankful! :)
Anything make you sick or queasy:  Nope
Labor signs: Nope
Belly Button in or out:  Flat.
Wedding rings on or off:  On, but I have been taking my ring off at night. I've been getting hot in the middle of night, so my fingers swell.
Happy or Moody most of the time:  I have been so happy this week! :)

Looking forward to:  My appointment this week, I love getting to hear his heartbeat!

Here are a few pictures from this week!

Bumpdate #2

How far along:  21 Weeks, 5 Days
Maternity clothes: Two co-workers of mine gave me some maternity clothes! And I am loving wearing them. The shirts show off my baby bump--time to embrace it & show it off!!
Total weight gain:  I am not sure, I do not have a scale to check.
Stretch marks:  So far, so good! Still using coca butter!
Sleep:  This past week has been SO much better with sleep. I am only getting up about twice a night to use the restroom and my back isn't hurting as much. I load up on the pillows though! One between my legs & one under my back. PLUS my two I usually sleep with by my head.
Best moment this week: Getting Ty's crib assembled & some of his furniture painted! EEK!
Miss anything: Still missing Sushi, Tyler said he would take me to get whatever Sushi I want when Ty is born! This week--I am missing wine, too! I really would love a glass--but it is SOOOO worth it not having it.
Movement: Still just a rockin' and rollin'! Yesterday I had to get onto one of my students and he CLEARLY did not like it. He started kicking me and moving like crazy. He did not like his momma having to raise her voice. So, I rubbed my belly and told him I was so sorry! I think he understood! :)
Food cravings:  Hah, yes. Poor Tyler! I still have been craving Pepsi. My newest ones are Chick-Fil-A, Taco Bell, and oddly enough--vienna sausages. I know gross! But, hey, what can you do?
Anything make you sick or queasy:  Nope
Gender:  Still sweet little boy!
Labor signs: Nope
Belly Button in or out:  Half In--Half Out
Wedding rings on or off:  On
Happy or Moody most of the time:  I have been so happy this week! :)
Looking forward to:  Some warmer weather--I am OVER this cold. Unless it would decide to snow--I would be okay with that!

Now, I have some questions for all those Mommies out there! If you want to respond to any of them--just send me a Facebook message or write a message in the comments sections.

1) Bumpers-- Are they are yes or no? And, why?
2) Breastfeeding--I would love come suggestions for preparing for it. Also, pros and con of it.
3) Essential things to get for the baby.

I may have more questions later! :)

Here are some pictures!
This is me at 20 Weeks & 5 Days
This is me in Ty's room at 21 Weeks & 3 Days--amazing how much my bump changed in a week.

Registering for Baby Ty

Good Morning from these two cutie pies who are keeping me company!
Good Morning to everyone!

A friend of mine, Courtney, suggested that I blog about what I registered for Ty. I thought that was a great idea! We had so much fun and loved seeing all the neat things for babies that Target had to offer. Some things we weren't sure of, but thought we might as well register for it anyways. I am not going to talk about EVERYTHING we registered for, but you can certainly check it out here!

One of our "big" items we registered for was the Eddie Baurer XRS Convertible Car Seat. It is really awesome because we can use it when he is a newborn; and then once he does not have to be in a rear facing car seat, it changes into a forward facing! Not to mention it is really nice looking and Tyler was super excited about the style of it. *Cough Cough* it has subtle houndstooth on it! Roll Tide to that. Although after that game last night, he may change his mind. Just kidding! He still loves his Tide--just hates it for the team.

Another item we registered for (that I LoVe) was the Eddie Bauer Home & Travel Playard (do we see a theme here? I didn't even realize it until I looked at our registry again--the highchair is also Eddie Bauer) This item is super cool (yes, I am talking about an item for a baby #newmommyprobs) and it can be used when he gets older as well! It is a pack and play and it starts out with a bassinet and changing table, it then can be lowered when he gets older. This would be perfect for his visits to see his Granny K, Gran Gran, Grum & Poppa, etc! SoOoOo if you are wanting a longer visit with Ty……… hint hint!
This next item is actually NOT Eddie Bauer, but I have heard how it would be your BFF. It is the Graco Duet Connect 2-in-1 Swing and Bouncer. Ty will be able to enjoy this fun 2-in-1 swing/bouncer until he is 30 pounds--which I HOPE will be for a decent amount of time.

Those are just a few of the items we registered. We of course registered for a lot more, but I just wanted to discuss those 3 items. We had a lot of fun registering & Tyler LOVED scanning the items. Don't forget if you would like to see anything else we registered for, go HERE!

I hope everyone has a good weekend and stays warm. It is SO cold outside. Brrrrrrrrrr.

XOXO,
Heather

First Post!

I have heard from so many people that blogging about your pregnancy can help pass the time, and it's exciting to have to share with your baby when they are older. So, I decided to give it a shot! I am currently 20 weeks, 4 days. I saw a blog I enjoyed reading and she did a questionnaire for each week and just discussed what all has been going on. So, here goes nothing!

How far along: 20 weeks!
Total weight gain: I haven't gained any weight yet. I lost about 15 pounds at the beginning of the pregnancy because I had absolutely no appetite. I have a little bump though, so I am sure I will have gained some weight at my next appointment.
Maternity clothes: Not yet, verrrrry soon though. My jeans are to the point where I have to unbutton them & put a rubber band around it! :) But hey! It works!
Stretch marks: Fingers crossed, not yet! But I put lotion on ALL the time. Coco butter is my best friend!
Sleep: Ohhh, sleep, how I miss you! I get up about 4 times a night to use the bathroom. Which is partly my fault. Anytime I get up..I get water! I am always so thirsty. If I am not using the restroom, I am trying to get comfortable because my back is hurting me. BUT--it is so worth it! And, lets face it..sleep as I knew it.. will be no more.
Best moment of this week: Ringing in the New Year with friends! Tyler & I went to eat with our friends, Brett & Mollie, and their little girl Addison! We went to Longhorn and I got the Appetizer Trio with Wings, Mozzarella Sticks, and Onion RingsTALK ABOUT PREGNANT GIRL HEAVEN!!! We then went to our friend, Susanne's, house for a little bit; and then came home around 11:30 and rang in the New Year with our doggies! It was crazy thinking we would have precious baby Ty with us next year. We are SO excited about 2014.
Miss anything: SUSHI SUSHI SUSHI. Oh. My. Gosh. I miss it so much!! Oh, and of course being able to sit through an entire movie, show, dinner, etc. without getting up and going to the bathroom. Ty clearly has found comfort in relaxing on my bladder.
Movement: All the time! It is so awesome. It's not to the point where we can see him move; but we certainly feel him!
Food cravings: Anything salty. Last night I was craving a Pepsi, so my sweet hubby went down the street and got me one! :)
Anything making you queasy or sick: Not anymore, FINALLY! I spent my entire first trimester sick to my stomach. Especially in the school lunchroom..BLEH!
Have you started to show yet: I am! It's a little bump and I love it.
Gender: Boy, his name is Ty.
Labor signs: Toooooo early for that!
Belly button in or out: Still in, but it feels so weird.
Wedding rings on or off: On, but I have heard the horror stories! So, when it gets time.. I will take them off.
Happy or moody most of the time: Happy pretty much of the time. I have my moments. And I definitely have a pregnancy brain, and I get emotional easy. I cried when I saw that commercial over Christmas where the teenage boy looked like he was just ignoring his family & playing on his phone; but really he made that super sweet video. Cried like a baby. Really, Heather?
Looking forward to: Ty moving off my bladder. I am ready for fewer bathroom trips.
So-- thats all for now! I am loving being pregnant. It has been wonderful so far! My husband has been nothing short of amazing! He has already painted Ty's room and it looks amazing! He also ordered his crib the other day. He will clean and cook and just take great care of me. We are so excited about this adventure in our life!! 2014 will be the year of change for us! But, we couldn't be happier!! Happy New Year to everyone. Hope you enjoyed the blog. And here's to hoping I actually keep up with it.
This is the crib that we ordered. It is one of those 4 in 1 cribs! So awesome!

This is sweet Baby Ty's room! I love the colors! I cannot wait for it to be finished.
Here is Ty waving and giving everyone a thumbs up! He is so precious! :)

Hopefully I will get some baby bump pictures on here! It just never think to take a picture of it.
